Software
I feel research software is a first-class output, as important as scientific publications. My focus is building tools for reproducible, resilient, and sustainable Earth system modelling. Some of the projects I've worked on are below.
esm-tools
Core developer
A toolkit for downloading, configuring, compiling and running coupled Earth system models on a wide range of HPC platforms. Running a climate model is usually hand-tuned to each machine; esm-tools makes it a scripted, repeatable workflow instead.
PyCMOR
Author
Converts Earth system model output into CMIP-compliant datasets, so runs can be published and compared with others.
Interactive ice-sheet and climate coupling
Author
Iterative coupling of the AWI-ESM climate model with the PISM ice-sheet model, so ice sheets and climate evolve together across long simulations.
I also run a small self-hosted homelab. See the source.
